Gerdau (formerly PCS / Pacific Coast Steel) is seeking a Shop Superintendent II for its
Glendale, AZ facility.
Basic Function:
This position is responsible for the activities involved in the fabrication and shipment of reinforcing steel by direction and supervision of Rebar Fabricating Plant, Accessory Warehouse, Production Scheduling and Shipping functions.
Responsible for:
Direction, supervision and coordination of fabrication and timely delivery of reinforcing steel and concrete accessories.Producing quality material at maximum productivity and least cost.Developing requirements for manufacturing equipment material at various production levels.Proper operation and utilization of equipment to prevent damage and minimize repair.Advising, instructing and directing subordinate personnel as to objectives, policy and procedures regarding production performance, methods, material, quality, safety, costs and disciplining personnel.Cooperate with other departments to maintain coordinated efficiency of operation.Employee selection, evaluation and discipline.Control of shop attendance and turnover.Carrying out company policy and programs.Final delivery to the customer in a complete and timely fashion.Driver compliance of all federal and state DOT regulations.
Qualifications include:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Manufacturing Management, Production Management, Manufacturing Engineering Technology or related studies2 - 5 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment Experience with 5S, Business Systems, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or similarIntermediate or higher level of skill with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Windows operating environmentAble to read and write English clearly. Ability to speak intermediate to fluent Spanish a plus.Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels within and outside the organization is essential. Strong problem solving, creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses. High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.Excellent organizational skills, ability to work under time constraints, detail oriented, team orientedFundamental knowledge of drafting and ASA and/or CAD principals a plus
