JOB DESCRIPTION ? ? Orange Tree Staffing is seeking Sign Language Interpreter to Build and Inspire Growth by providing education-based services to students at Glendale Union High School District.
As a Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a crucial role in facilitating communication between individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing and those who are hearing.
You will interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa in various settings, ensuring effective and accurate communication.
RESPONSIBILITIES Shall possess a high school diploma or GED; Bachelor's Degree is preferred Shall meet all federal and state educational and testing requirements for successful attainment of an interpreting certification such as Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), Certificate of Interpretation (CI) or Certificate of Transliteration (CT), National Association of the Deaf (NAD) Level 3 or above, or Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) Level 3.
5 or above Shall have experience interpreting in a K-12 environment; 2 years of experience preferred Shall have knowledge of Registry of Interpreting for the Deaf (RID) and/or National Association of the Deaf (NAD) code of ethics and guidelines for educational interpreters Shall possess basic knowledge of child development and language development REQUIREMENTS Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other relevant sign language(s).
Certification or licensure as a sign language interpreter (e.
g.
, RID certification).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent listening and comprehension skills.
Cultural competence and sensitivity to the needs of individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
Flexibility to work in various settings and adapt to changing circumstances.
