8 Full-time 5 hours ago Full Job Description Description The Geographic Information System (GIS) Specialist is responsible for inputting, updating, and maintaining GIS databases, coverages, layers, and linkages to various databases.
Duties include reading and interpreting source documents such as civil engineering plans, plot maps, and legal descriptions; and entering required data into the GIS using ESRI ArcPro software, AutoCAD, Global Positioning systems (GPS), and other GIS software applications.
The GIS Specialist creates maps, performs moderate to complex analysis, and assists other City departments in utilizing GIS applications.
This position may work independently to solve business problems or participate on work teams.
May lead, coordinate, advise and direct GIS Technicians/Interns in routine GIS activities.
Essential Functions May lead and support GIS Techs on the more technical aspects of GIS.
Maintains and updates City facility maps, including but not limited to parcels, streets, water, wastewater, storm drain, right of way, easements, and other misc.
layers using ESRI and AutoCAD software.
Researches, analyzes, interprets and presents geographic information.
Reviews and interprets data such as documents, maps, aerial photographs and legal descriptions.
Uses GIS software functions to enter, edit, and update GIS spatial data, including points, lines, and polygons, and attribute data into databases or layers, following standard procedures.
Develops and maintains links between various databases.
Performs GIS data Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
This includes conducting mapping research, in the field and in the office, to resolve conflicting information.
Researches, tests, and recommends modifications or customization of GIS software to maintain data integrity.
Organizes and audits metadata and prepares systems standard specifications and documentation for new data features.
Creates maps using ESRI ArcPro and AutoCAD software for internal/external customers using geo-spatial data.
Provides City GIS database information and data for use by the public, other City departments, and outside agencies.
Provides specialized GIS customer service.
Interprets requests from internal and external customers for data, maps and reports.
Provides user training in the use of GIS software, standards, and applications; coordinates and schedules training classes; develops, maintains, verifies, and updates operational procedures and documentation.
Operates GIS-specific hardware including large format plotters and scanners.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications/Special Requirements/Success Factors Associate's Degree in Geography, Cartography, GIS, Civil Engineering, computer aided drafting or a related field and three years of experience with ESRI GIS desktop software and providing GIS support.
Knowledge of:
Basic understanding of Geographic Information Systems Cartographic and addressing concepts Software applications relating to spatial data such as ArcPro, AutoCAD, etc.
Spatial data and concepts, shapefiles, and geodatabases GIS feature creation, editing, and geoprocessing Reading and interpreting maps and as-built drawings Civil engineering, surveying, public utilities (water, sewer, storm drain) documentation Records research GPS hardware The operation of personal computer and various software applications for word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
Basic mathematical computations Ability to:
Adhere to data entry standards Read and interpret legal descriptions, plat maps, construction drawings, survey data, technical manuals, specifications, reports, flow charts, analytical models, and computer code Perform work duties with accuracy and speed Exercise judgment and creativity in situations involving complex logical query statements for GIS data manipulation and analysis Prepare and execute models and diagrams for advanced geospatial analysis Develop code to batch process relational database tables Communicate effectively verbally and in writing Effectively present information and respond to questions from City staff, contractors, and the public Establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff, contractors, and the public Perceive color as defined by the Inter-Society Color Council - National Bureau of Standards system Understand and follow oral and written policies, procedures, and instructions Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
